Annotated bibliography

This annotated bibliography comprises four references included in my project proposal and a fifth reference that has been suggested in review/feedback sessions over the last few weeks. Each text has been significant in supporting my practice-led research and my digital diary includes posts on each of the five references.

I selected these particular books as I thought they would help me to get started with thinking about some of the research questions I had identified. While some of these questions make specific reference to the idea of edge my reading has been more general at this early stage, focusing on the nature of photographs, the history of photography and contemporary photographic practice with a specific focus on abstraction, and the work of exemplary artists.

Text 1: The Nature of Photographs

Text 2: Art Photography Now

Text 3: Photography is Magic

Text 4: The edge of Vision: The Rise of Abstraction in Photography

Text 5: Sean Scully Figure / Abstract
