Folio: Text and shape

I’m looking for ideas about shape that connect my focus on edge, my writing and the photographic objects I make.

And so I’ve been reading:
Linda Short (2015) Alex Selenitsch LIFE/TEXT  Heide Museum of Modern Art
Selenitsch  'is best known as a concrete poet, yet his practice traverses a range of disciplines, from architecture to artist books, printmaking, collage and sculpture' (p 5).

One possibility is to use the shape of words which have been foremost in my mind: edge – fence – boundary – back fence – in-between – laneway – back space – layer.

This would involve creating made up of squares and rectangles that combine to make the shape each word would make in lower case letters.

edge (6 squares or 2 squares and 2 rectangles)

fence (6 squares or 4 squares and 1 rectangles)

boundary (11 squares or 5 squares and 3 rectangles)

back fence (12 squares or 6 squares and 3 rectangles)

in-between (11 squares or 7 squares and 2 rectangles)

laneway (9 squares or 5 squares and 2 rectangles)

back space (12 squares or 6 squares and 3 rectangles)

layer (7 squares or 3 squares and 2 rectangles)

Other shapes inspired by these words might include:
