Semester 2 ends ... I made it!

Its two weeks since I last posted and I've been flat out getting all my work completed for the presentations today.

I think it went well, it was certainly interesting.

My work comprised:

Three 'fences'. These are the drafts as I forgot to photograph the finished works before I handed them in!

Fence 1
A larger version of this with desert oaks vegetation overlaid.

Fence 2
A longer version of this with a horizontal dark strip running the width of the collage creating a grid like pattern, reminiscent of streets.

Fence 3

A reworked version of this with more subtle vegetation overlaid where the pen marks indicate.

3-D interlocking fence panels
These photos are shots of a small test version. The final version had 6 panels each measuring 19cm x 38cm.

To construct the model I attached photographs to perspex.  The panels can be combined in many formations.

Together they form a model for a possible sculpture/installation where the panels would be roughly 6ft high and 12 ft long, like a real fence. I imagine combining them to create an experience that is like walking down a laneway.

Then two booklets, a collection of poetry, edgings, and a reader, A good substantial fence. The reader contained excerpts from books that I've been reading. Both included some photos and the reader included maps and other visual resources.

My idea is that these would be an integral part of the final work I also envisage a third book which would include photographs shaped by cutting and folding, maybe a flag book.
