From blog posts to poetry: my writing process

Drawing on the inspiration gained from Teju Cole, Maggie Nelson and Moyra Davey I began my writing. And, as I’ve worked I seem to have developed a process for this writing. The process has involved:

  • Keeping this digital diary/blog about things I’m doing and thinking about
  • Making numbered notes of things that I might write about
  • Writing short pieces of prose about my experiences
  • Writing short pieces of prose about things I’m reading and researching
  • Using the short pieces of prose as starting points for poetry
  • Drafting and crafting the prose and poetry
